Phil Denniston, President and CEO
Phil Denniston is a highly accomplished leader in healthcare publishing and consulting, having successfully built and managed numerous major ventures impacting the health and productivity of working people.
Prior to launching Denniston Data Inc., Phil was president and co-founder of Work Loss Data Institute (WLDI), based out of California and Texas. WLDI was an industry leader in providing information and standards on workplace health and productivity. Its main publication, Official Disability Guidelines (ODG), provided evidence-based medical treatment and return-to- work guidelines for workers’ compensation. ODG grew to become the workers’ comp standard in numerous state and private adoptions. In 2017, Hearst acquired WLDI and integrated ODG directly into its healthcare guideline subsidiary, MCG Health.
Other companies that Phil co-founded and was president include:
- Data Pharmaceutica, started in New York City, which became the leading pharmaceutical database covering both clinical pharmacology and costs. Data Pharmaceutica sold to Mosby-Yearbook, which was a subsidiary of Times Mirror.
- Medical Device Register (MDR), headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut, which grew to be the largest database of medical equipment and supplies in its time. MDR sold to Medical Economics, a healthcare publishing portfolio and unit owned by the Thomson Corporation.
Additional healthcare publishing and consulting experience includes being hired on as president of Medical Economics Data, where Phil had responsibility for the Physicians’ Desk Reference (PDR), American Health Consultants (publisher of Occupational Health Management, Case Management Advisor, and Employee Health & Fitness), the Red Book, and dozens of other properties.

Pat Whelan, COO and CFO
Patricia Whelan Denniston has been a publisher and co-founder of a number of leading medical database offerings prior to her current roles as co-founder, chief operating officer, and chief financial officer of Denniston Data Inc.
As co-founder of Work Loss Data Institute (WLDI), Pat acted as CFO and publisher, overseeing WLDI’s three main publications: Official Disability Guidelines (ODG), ODG Top 200 Conditions, and ODG Treatment in Workers’ Comp. Released as annual publications and online electronic software, the ODG library provided evidence-based standards on durations and recommended treatments for workplace injuries and illnesses. The guidelines were adopted by many states nationwide before being acquired by Hearst. Now overseen by Hearst Health subsidiary, MCG Health, ODG continues to serve as the leading Workers’ Compensation treatment guideline nationwide.
Pat was also co-founder and CFO/publisher of Data Pharmaceutica, Inc., which launched Physicians’ GenRx, a leading pharmaceutical database covering both generic and branded drugs and costs. The company then successfully sold to Mosby-Yearbook.
Earlier titles held by Pat include co-founder and CFO of Directory Systems, Inc., publisher of Medical Device Register (MDR), a database of medical equipment and supplies for hospital procurement. Pat managed publication of MDR until its acquisition by Medical Economics, owned at the time by Thomson Corporation.
Pat has also developed and conducted several continuing education courses and workshops for various organizations nationwide, including: Disability Management Employers’ Coalition (DMEC); National Workers Compensation & Disability Conference; American Association of Occupational Nurses (AAOHN); California Workers Comp Forum; and Texas Workers’ Comp Forum and International Academy of Independent Medical Evaluators (IAIAME) formerly called American Academy of Disability Evaluating Physicians (AADEP).

Phil LeFevre, VP of Business Development
Phil LeFevre has close to three decades of experience in business-to-business healthcare data analytics along with platform development and delivery. He has managed innovative, high growth, cross departmental teams in product management, clinical analytics, software engineering, sales, and customer success.
As Vice President of Business Development at Denniston Data Inc. (DDI), Phil LeFevre is responsible for sales, marketing, partner strategy, and customer success, growing the footprint of DDI’s suite of solutions, including Provider Ranking System™ (PRS) and Healthcare Pricing Guide™ (HPG).
PRS and HPG deliver transparency in physician quality and medical pricing for providers, payers, and member applications using objective, data-driven methodology leveraging claims data and newly available Transparency in Coverage (TiC) files. Due to size and complexity, the wave of payer data from TiC legislation requires significant, unique experience like Phil’s to make its way into useful tools at scale.
Prior to joining DDI, Phil spent the previous seven years as Managing Director for ODG and National Vice President for MCG Health, successfully managing the merger of ODG into MCG following acquisition by Hearst in 2017. MCG, part of the Hearst Health network, provides unbiased, evidence-based guidelines for payers and providers delivering patient-centered care. Phil’s roles at ODG prior to becoming Managing Director included leadership in sales, customer success, government affairs, and product management.
